Butch Jones on building SEC program: ‘It takes 6-7 years’

United States

Butch Jones is in his third year as head coach of the Tennessee Volunteers. So far, it have been tough sledding for Jones as he holds a record of 16-17 and is still two wins away from bowl eligibility this year.

Jones is fairly confident on how long it takes to build a good program in a conference like the SEC, however.

The answer may surprise people, especially looking at some of the success of teams now.

Jones: "It takes six to seven years in the SEC to really build a program." Goes through positions where they are short on depth.
