Tennessee’s freshman quarterback Brian Maurer left the game in the second quarter after landing awkwardly on his head during a scramble. Maurer got his second start for the Volunteers today, looking to backup his strong performance against Georgia, which saw him throw two touchdown passes.
Jeremy Pruitt didn’t offer much of an update at halftime, saying he was getting checked out. SEC Network reported that Maurer had been ruled out for the rest of the game during halftime.
Maurer was 4-7 for 61 yards when he exited. The freshman passer had a rough day at the office, tossing two interceptions in the redzone — taking two potential touchdowns off the board for Tennessee.
