Just over 24 hours after sustaining a concussion against Mississippi State, Tennessee’s freshman quarterback was back on the practice field, taking live reps. Jeremy Pruitt said on Monday that his new starting quarterback “would be fine” after landing awkwardly on his head on Saturday.
Maurer taking reps so soon after the hit was taken as a good sign, but Pruitt warned that it’s not a given that he will be able to play against Alabama on Saturday night.
“He’s went kind of through the protocol here, and he’s taken some reps,” Jeremy Pruitt said on Wednesday during the SEC teleconference.
