After sluggish start, Tennessee races to big win at Bristol

BRISTOL, Tenn. – In the first quarter against Virginia Tech on Saturday, Tennessee picked up where it left off last week. The Vols then picked up where they left off last season.

After a sluggish start, Tennessee took advantage of several gift-wrapped turnovers by the Hokies and raced to a 45-24 victory before the largest crowd to ever witness a football game – 156,990 at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Virginia Tech dominated early, surging to a 14-0 lead. But a fumbled exchange then set the Vols up at the Hokies’ 5-yard line, Tennessee quarterback Josh Josh Dobbs hit Jauan Jennings for a touchdown and the turnaround was under way.
