Spring practice is rapidly approaching for schools around the country. The Tennessee Volunteers start their spring practice in less than a month. While spring ball has the attention of the coaching staff, recruiting is a never-ending process. Vols head coach Butch Jones and his coaching staff are already hard at work putting together the pieces of the 2017 recruiting class.
We're here to detail the three most interesting stories on the wire right now with our Tennessee Recruiting Rumors Roundup For Feb. 26th.
Vols Offer 20 Prospects
That's not a typo, as the Volunteers offered a whopping 20 prospects today. All the players attend IMG Academy, and it was IMG's coach that announced the offers. Of those players, 13 are for the 2017 class, six in 2018 and one 2019 class. IMG Academy churns out prospects every year, and the players the Vols offered have bright football futures.
Junior Day Was Last Weekend
The Vols held their junior day last weekend, and 2018 DT D'Andre Litaker was impressed.
"I really liked it," Litaker told 247Sports. "I liked how everybody was talking about giving your all on and off the field. That really got my attention."
Litaker has yet to commit, but the Vols are the front-runner to land the in-state product. He's said he won't make a decision on his future until his senior year.
2018 QB Happy For Offer
QB Gavin Schoenwald also attended the Vols' junior day, and the team offered him a scholarship Monday. He's excited about getting that offer.
"Tennessee definitely this weekend left a huge, huge mark on me between the visit and what Coach [Butch] Jones, Coach Scott and [director of high school relations Patrick] Abernathy had to say to me," Schoenwald. "And now the offer, of course, it’s huge. I would say, definitely, Tennessee’s in front since they’re the only one to offer me right now."
While it's unclear just how highly rated Schoenwald will be rated, the Vols offering him first will go a long way to landing him. For more Vols recruiting, download the Chat Sports Android and iPhone app.
