Titans cut ties with 2-time Pro Bowl safety Griffin

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee Titans on Tuesday released veteran safety Michael Griffin, the team announced.

Griffin was the team's most veteran player, their first round draft pick in 2007 out of Texas. He played in two Pro Bowls but was an up-and-down player who had tackling issues too often.

"We would like to thank Michael for all of his efforts and impact on the Titans during his nine seasons with our franchise," Titans GM Jon Robinson said in a statement. "Michael's reputation around the NFL is as a very durable player who always gives his best both on and off the field.
