A mainstay of the Tennessee Titans’ organization is retiring, according to Paul Kuharsky. Titans strength coach Steve Watterson is set to retire after 32 years on the job. The timetable for Watterson to officially step down is unclear. Kuharsky mentioned Tom Kanavy, who is currently Watterson’s top assistant, as a potential replacement.
Watterson is the longest tenured assistant coach in the league with a single team. He has survived six different coaching staffs with the organization. It was initially reported that Watterson would stick with the new coaching staff.
It’s unclear what changed to bring on this decision.
