On final day of padded practice, Titans' Mike Mularkey recalls a different era

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee Titans held their final padded practice of the season Wednesday.

“I didn’t see any tears shed,” interim coach Mike Mularkey said.

The current CBA reduced the number of padded practices a team can hold during the season to 14. That’s a stark contrast to what Mularkey experienced as a player. He was a tight end from 1983-1991 with the Vikings and Steelers.

“From the first day of training camp through the playoffs for at least the three years that I was (with the Steelers), I was never not in full pads,” Mularkey said.
