Mike Mularkey wants Titans corners playing tighter

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- For a long time, the Titans cornerbacks have appeared timid, so scared of getting beat and so determined to keep receivers in front of them that they line up well off the line of scrimmage.

Brice McCain arrived in Nashville talking of how he likes to play a receiver close so he can control a route. But he’s been primarily a nickel corner, and that sort of mindset it more common and easier to employ inside.

The Titans were without starters Jason McCourty (slight hip strain) and Perrish Cox (ankle) in their second preseason game Saturday afternoon, a 26-16 loss to Carolina.
