KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Terrance Mitchell was college teammates with Marcus Mariota at Oregon. All of that time playing with and practicing against Mariota could be useful for Mitchell on Sunday when the Chiefs face Mariota and the Tennessee Titans at Arrowhead Stadium.
"I know he's going to take some shots," Mitchell said, referring to downfield passes. "He can keep the play alive a long time so you'll have to cover longer."
Mitchell isn't the only Chiefs defensive player familiar with Mariota. Starting cornerbacks Marcus Peters and Steven Nelson played against Mariota in college, Peters at Washington and Nelson at Oregon State.
