NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- So many times on their path to 1-5, a seemingly survivable wrinkle has unfolded for the Titans and they’ve collapsed rather than ironing it out.
Early in Sunday’s 10-7 loss to the Falcons at Nissan Stadium, one play served to represent the entire season.
Receiver Justin Hunter lined up on the left side of the formation, between the numbers and the hash marks. He ran deep, pretty much straight down those numbers and, after a play-action fake, Zach Mettenberger launched a pass for him.
Defensive back Robert Alford was a few yards behind Hunter as he stopped and went up for the catch.
