Beyond GM and head coach, Titans need big upgrades to staff

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- If Mike Mularkey is hired as the Titans head coach, he needs to make major changes to the coaching staff he inherited.

If it’s not Mularkey, the new guy needs to assemble a far better staff than Ken Whisenhunt did.

Clearly the Titans have had a problem acquiring talent, and the franchise is addressing that by looking for a quality talent-evaluator to replace Ruston Webster, who’s contract was allowed to expire.

A new GM has to be a better talent-evaluator. But better talent still needs better coaching, and it’s position coaches who deal with guys every day and work on specific technique.
