MEMPHIS, Tenn. – In the third overtime game of the season, the Temple women's soccer team edged out Memphis, 2-1 on Sunday afternoon. The Owls move to 10-6-1, 2-4-1 The American on the season. This is the first time in program history that the team has recorded back-to-back double digit victories; the team finished 11-8-1 last season.
The game started out in favor of the Tigers, as Valerie Sanderson was able to take the ball in for a score after a defensive mixup in the sixth minute of the game.
In the 22nd minute, junior Elaine Byerley was able to capitalize on a defensive giveaway by Memphis, taking a long shot that landed in the net for her first goal of the season.
