PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple women's rowing team kept with program tradition, participating in the recent PurpleStride Philadelphia 5K. The event raises money for pancreatic cancer research, and this year the event has raised over $729,000.
"When you have a group of 50+ women, you have a lot of people power," said captain Emilie Mehler. "It feels good to put our strength in numbers to show support for members of this community that have become a part of our team."
Temple's participation in PurpleStride dates back to 2009, as a team tradition honoring former Owl Laura Altimari '09, whose mother passed away from the disease.
