PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple women's rowing team took time out of their off-season training to participate in Saturday's PurpleStride Philadelphia 5K. The event raises money for pancreatic cancer research, and this year has raised over $625,000 and counting.
Temple's participation in the event is a team tradition honoring former Owl Laura Altimari '09, whose mother passed away from the disease. Current members of the Owl team have also had family members affected by the disease.
"Purple Stride is a great Temple Rowing tradition that I'm thankful to have taken part in for another year," said senior captain Lily Papaleo.
