PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple volleyball team was recognized nationally for academics on Tuesday, as the Owls were named an American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award winner for the 2017-18 season. The award honors excellence in the classroom by recognizing teams that maintain at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA.
Temple's 2017-18 academic year showed that the Owls excelled both on the court and in the classroom. The team went 20-10 overall, including 15-5 to finish second in the American Athletic Conference. Temple returned to the post-season for the first time in 15 years, advancing to the round of 16 in the National Invitational Volleyball Championship.
