NEW YORK - Temple senior Rachael Mueller was one of 11 named to the 2017 Preseason All-BIG EAST Field Hockey Team in a vote by the league's eight head coaches. Mueller, a 2016 BIG EAST Second Team selection, was the Owls' leading scorer last year.
Connecticut, 16-time league champion, was voted as the overwhelming favorite in the Preseason Coaches' Poll. The Huskies earned all seven possible first-place votes and swept both major awards – BIG EAST Preseason Offensive Player of the Year Charlotte Veitner and Defensive Player of the Year Casey Umstead. The BIG EAST Preseason Coaches' Poll, major awards and all-conference selections are based on ballots cast by the eight head coaches, who cannot vote for their own teams or student-athletes.
