PHILADELPHIA – Temple men's and women's basketball pulled in major awards at the Philadelphia Big 5 Banquet Monday night at the Palestra, but the it was the Owls' former coach Fran Dunphy who stole the show.
Fran Dunphy, who coached Temple to a 23-10 record and its eighth NCAA Tournament appearance in his 13-year tenure in 2018-19, was inducted into the Big 5 Hall of Fame as well as being named the Coach of the Year. Dunphy regaled the crowd with not one, but two speeches at the event.
Women's basketball standout Kamesha Hairston was also inducted into the Big 5 Hall of Fame.
