PHILADELPHIA – When the Denver Broncos defeated the New England Patriots in yesterday's AFC Championship Game, it assured Temple University would be represented by a player in the Super Bowl for the third time in the last four years and nine of the 16 Super Bowls this century. The Broncos won, 20-18, with eight points coming from the leg of kicker Brandon McManus (Temple '13).
Temple players have been good for Denver QB Peyton Manning – or vice versa. The certain-to-be first ballot Hall of Fame quarterback is the NFL's all-time leader in every major passing category.
