PHILADELPHIA - On Friday, Sept. 2, Temple field hockey will usher in a new era at the grand opening of Howarth Field. The Owls will face No. 18 Penn State at 6 p.m., and a large number of alumnae are expected to attend.
The name Howarth Field for the new field hockey and lacrosse stadium is in recognition of a $500,000 gift from former field hockey student-athlete Cherifa Howarth and her husband, Greg. Howarth Field is part of the new Temple Sports Complex south of campus at Broad St. and Girard Ave.
The new field includes bleacher seating, a state-of-the-art watering system, video scoreboard, a press box and new locker room facilities.
