PHILADELPHIA -- Temple student-athletes Maddie Gebert and Matt Hennessy have been named the American Athletic Conference Scholar-Athletes of the Year for women's lacrosse and football, respectively, announced AAC Commissioner Mike Aresco.
The Scholar-Athlete of the Year Awards are given to a student-athlete in each American Athletic Conference-sponsored sport based on academic credentials and athletic accolades and performances. To be eligible, student-athletes must have attained a minimum of senior academic standing. The final selections are made by the conference's Faculty Athletic Representatives. Each Scholar-Athlete of the Year recipient receives a $2,000 postgraduate scholarship.
