PHILADELPHIA - Temple University men's basketball coach Fran Dunphy was honored by the Philadelphia Sports Writers Association's Monday evening with the organization's Good Guy Award. The award was presented at the 115th annual PSWA banquet held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Cherry Hill, N.J.
Dunphy, in his 13th and final season as the Owls' head coach, received the Dean Smith Award presented by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association on Nov. 1, and has been honored by many of Temple's opponents during this season for his contributions to the sport.
The all-time winningest coach in Philadelphia Big 5 history with 571 victories, Dunphy has led Temple to nine postseason appearances, including seven trips to the NCAA Tournament.
