DALLAS - The PwC SMU Athletic Forum released today the preseason candidates for the 2020 Doak Walker Award. The Forum annually presents the award to the nation's top college running back. Earning a place on that list is Temple sophomore running back Re'Mahn Davis.
As a true freshman in 2019, Davis burst onto the scene leading the Owls in rushing with 936 yards and eight touchdowns on 193 carries. Those numbers all rank second among freshmen in school history to Bernard Pierce's outstanding 2009 season. Overall, his rushing yards ranked seventh in the American Athletic Conference and were the fifth best FBS mark among freshmen helping the San Francisco native to Freshman All-America honors by Pro Football Focus.
