CLEVELAND - Sophomore Becca Stanford capped a successful weekend for Temple fencing at the Junior Olympics, tying for third in junior women's foil on Sunday out of 199 competitors.
Stanford went a perfect 6-0 in the opening pool round before advancing through four rounds of direct elimination and making it to the final four. In the round of eight, Stanford defeated Lauren Scruggs who had won the Cadet U17 Championships earlier in the weekend.
"This was an excellent result for Becca in her last JO's as she ages out now," said Temple head coach Nikki Franke.
