The Arlington Lamar product became the first true freshman quarterback to start each of UT's first two games, leading the Longhorns to a 41-7 victory over UTEP.

He completed 22 of 27 passes for 244 yards and four touchdowns. He also netted 34 yards rushing despite getting sacked three times.
