FORT WORTH -- Being a trendy pick to win the Big 12 is nothing new for TCU.
The Horned Frogs have shouldered high expectations for years now, and coach Gary Patterson sees it as a good thing.
It helps recruiting. It helps everything. Even so, Patterson bristles when he starts hearing all the hype people are laying on his team, which opens the season Saturday against South Dakota State.
"Success is more harmful than failure," he said. "All the good things people say sometimes harms you a lot more. Around here, we become better teams when people tell us we're not any good.
