What's behind TCU's fall from CFP hopeful in 2014 and '15 to trying to become bowl eligible in 2016?

FORT WORTH -- For the last two seasons, the TCU campus was abuzz with College Football Playoff talk at about this time.

The Horned Frogs were part of the CFP's top 10 to open the rankings in 2014 and '15. This week, TCU was nowhere to be found when the unveiling occurred from Grapevine. Nor did anyone expect it to be.

The Horned Frogs don't look much like the teams that won 23 games the last two seasons -- or the version the media picked second behind Oklahoma in the Big 12 preseason poll.

With the latest double-overtime home loss to Texas Tech, TCU is 4-4 overall and 2-3 in the Big 12, with wins over Kansas and Iowa State.
