Mitchell Traver struck out eight and allowed only a run on four hits in seven innings, delivering a fourth consecutive strong start for TCU pitching as the Horned Frogs stayed alive in the Big 12 tournament with a 9-2 victory against Texas on Saturday at Bricktown Ballpark.
The victory forced the Frogs (42-15) and Longhorns (37-20) to play a second game, with the winner advancing to the championship game on Sunday against Oklahoma State.
Zach Humphreys had an RBI triple, and Ryan Merrill had a two-run single in a four-run first inning for TCU, which won its third consecutive game in the tournament following an opening-game loss on Wednesday.
