FORT WORTH -- It wasn't without some late-game drama, but TCU held off arch-rival Baylor on Saturday to emerge victorious in its Big 12 opener, 85-81, for the first time since joining the conference.
The Horned Frogs, after holding a 40-28 halftime lead, were outscored by Baylor 53-45 in the second half, with the lead being cut down to as little as one point in the final minute of play. But TCU, plagued by free-throws all afternoon, was able to make three of four shots from the line within the final 16 seconds of play to pad their lead enough for a narrow four-point victory.
