TCU turns to Michael Collins at QB after shoulder injury ends Shawn Robinson’s season

TCU will go with Michael Collins at quarterback for the rest of the season, coach Gary Patterson said on Monday.

Shawn Robinson, who started the first seven games, will undergo season-ending surgery on his left, non-throwing shoulder. Robinson’s injury made the looming QB decision easier on Patterson and his staff.

“We have no choice, really Shawn has been trying to play through it,” Patterson said. “Shawn will have surgery and Michael Collins will be our starter.”

Collins replaced Robinson in the second quarter in TCU’s 52-27 loss to Oklahoma on Saturday. Collins sparked the offense on three scoring drives, trimming what had been a 28-7 lead down to 28-24 at halftime.
