TCU head coach Gary Patterson announced at Big 12 media days that sophomore running back Shaun Nixon will miss the 2016 season due to an undisclosed injury.
Nixon received a medical redshirt in his first year in Fort Worth but played in all 13 games in 2015, including seven starts. He rushed 16 times for 66 yards but was more active in the passing game. He caught 47 passes and gained 501 yards and a single touchdown.
Nixon was expected to back up starting tailback Kyle Hicks this season. Patterson said TCU is still looking for a replacement for Nixon on the depth chart.
