Editor's note: This is the third article of a five-part series previewing some of the top breakout candidates for TCU football during spring practice.
In day and age where star-ratings have taken center stage in college football, TCU head coach Gary Patterson isn't buying all the hype. As the 59-year-old has said on the record more than once, "those star-ratings are yours, not mine."
From the mid-majors to the Big 12, Patterson has maintained the knack for picking up on the talent others have often cruised right past. Former TCU defensive standouts among the likes of Ty Summers, Ben Banogu and Mat Boesen -- all who were 2-star recruits or less out of high school -- are among recent players in Fort Worth who fall right into that category.
