TCU has issued a statement on KaVontae Turpin’s arrest last March in Las Cruces, New Mexico that included a charge for battery against his girlfriend.
“The football staff was aware there was an incident in New Mexico, but not that charges included an alleged battery,” the school said. “The publicly available information they reviewed at the time only showed a charge related to property damage. We did not know until yesterday that his legal issues were unresolved.”
Multiple sources told the Star-Telegram’s Mac Engel that TCU football coaches have known for over a month about an incident, but when the senior was asked about the alleged altercation he lied.
