Report: TCU QB Matthew Baldwin undergoes surgery, won't be available for start of fall camp

ARLINGTON -- Though plenty is left to be solved before TCU football names a starting quarterback for the 2019 season, the number of options for head coach Gary Patterson may now be realistically down to five candidates.

Per the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Patterson confirmed Monday that Ohio State transfer quarterback Matthew Baldwin recently underwent an undisclosed surgery and will not be available for the start of fall camp in August.

Baldwin, an Austin native and former passer at Lake Travis High School, announced in May that he was transferring to TCU. Baldwin was recruited by and signed with Ohio State as a 4-star prospect in the 247Sports Composite ratings.
