Former TCU wider receiver and kick returner KaVontae Turpin was indicted by the Tarrant County grand jury last month on a misdemeanor charge of assault with bodily injury, according to a report from the Fort Worth-Star Telegram.
Per the Star-Telegram, Turpin faces a Class A misdemeanor charge. If convicted, the former TCU football standout could receive a $4,000 fine and a maximum one-year prison sentence. No trial date has been set for Turpin, per the report.
Turpin's indictment stems from an arrest in Fort Worth last October -- less than 24 hours after TCU's 52-27 loss to Oklahoma -- in which he is accused of dragging his girlfriend across a parking lot and slamming her to the ground at an apartment complex several blocks south of TCU's campus.
