FORT WORTH -- You can always tell how TCU's first spring practice went by the sound of coach Gary Patterson's voice afterward.
The TCU head coach was only mildly hoarse Friday evening, which qualifies as a good thing.
"I didn't lose my voice completely," Patterson said, addressing the media. "If it would have been bad, we wouldn't have been able to talk."
Helping Patterson's mood was the play of two young cornerbacks Friday, redshirt freshman Jeff Gladney and sophomore Tony James, a recently converted wide receiver. Defensive back is one question mark going into spring with Ranthony Texada and Julius Lewis sidelined by injury.
