Once Chris Del Conte anxiously waited outside the office of Texas athletic director DeLoss Dodds to successfully lobby for TCU's Big 12 membership.
Now he will occupy the same office as Texas' new AD.
Texas President Greg Fenves announced the hire of Del Conte on Saturday. Del Conte had served as athletic director at TCU since 2009. In that time, the Horned Frogs maintained a Top 25 football program under Gary Patterson, hired Jamie Dixon to turn around the men's basketball program and has five trips to baseball's College World Series. Additionally he oversaw a major rebuild of Amon Carter Stadium and Schollmaier Arena with almost no long-term debt on $300 million of renovations.
