Former TCU Women’s Basketball star Amy Okonkwo to compete in Summer Olympics

Another TCU Athletics great has qualified for the Summer Olympics, as basketball star Amy Owonkwo and Nigeria are headed to Tokyo.

Okonkwo, who began her career in Fort Worth after transferring from USC, scored 1,324 points and tallied 606 rebounds in her three seasons at TCU (2016-19). She averaged 13.1 points and 6.0 rebounds, while shooting .479 from the field, .368 from three-point range and .850 from the charity stripe in 101 games. A two-time All Conference selection and the Big 12’s Sixth Man of the Year in 2018, Okonkwo was also an Academic All Conference team member each of her three years in Fort Worth as well an NCAA Autonomy Governance Student-Athlete representative and participant in the WBCA “So You Want to Be a Coach” program.
