FORT WORTH -- The teams playing inside a packed Schollmaier Arena on Tuesday night once dreamed of playing somewhere else at this point in the season.
A few weeks ago, TCU and Richmond held hopes of landing a bid to the NCAA tournament. But after that fell through, they ended up being two of the 32 teams that settled for a spot in the historic National Invitation Tournament.
But after the last buzzer sounded in TCU's 86-68 win over the Spiders in the NIT quarterfinals, the Horned Frogs didn't look like a team celebrating a win in a consolation tournament.
