It was a big day for former TCU tennis star and top collegiate singles player Cameron Norrie, as he secured his first career Grand Slam main draw victory at the US Open today. Norrie, who turned professional after the collegiate season ended in the spring, defeated Dmitry Tursunov of Russia.
Tursunov and Norrie were locked in a tight match in the opening set that eventually went to a tiebreak. After trading points back and forth, the former Frog secured the tiebreak 9-7 to take the first set 7-6.
The second set was nowhere near as close as Cam raced out to a 4-1 lead in the set.
