5 thoughts from TCU's 47-10 loss at No. 9 West Virginia, the Horned Frogs' most lopsided defeat under Gary Patterson

Here are five thoughts from TCU's 47-10 loss at ninth-ranked West Virginia:

Strong start, but no supporting offense

It looked as though an upset may be brewing during the early stages of play at Mountaineer Field on Saturday, as TCU led the Mountaineers 3-0 after one quarter. It marked the first time all season that West Virginia both trailed and failed to score after 15 minutes of play.

But tale as old of time, TCU’s offense was unable to muster any support beyond a field goal in the entire first half. Sophomore quarterback Michael Collins narrowly missed finding sophomore wide receiver Jalen Reagor for a touchdown not once but twice -- including a deep second quarter pass in which Reagor had the defender beat by a step, but failed to come up with the football.
