Yonny Chrinos was placed on the 10-day disabled list prior to Tuesday night’s game against the Detroit Tigers, with an elbow strain. He visited Dr. Koko Eaton — The Rays orthopedist — earlier today as the team returned home following their three city road trip and the prognosis was a flexor strain with no structural damage.
Although Chirinos is expected to miss at least a month with the injury, the diagnosis is actually good news. For Rays fans who have already dealt with the news that top pitching prospects, Brent Honeywell and Jose De Leon, had to undergo Tommy John surgery during spring training, “no structural damage” means Chirinos won’t need major surgery.
