Tampa Bay Rays first baseman Richie Shaffer’s home run in the seventh inning Tuesday against the Chicago White Sox was memorable for a number of reasons.
First, it was his first major-league it — and as such, his first major-league homer. It came just one day after he was called up from Triple-A Durham, and it came while TV cameras caught his parents cheering in the stands.
But what most fans will remember most was the reaction — or non-reaction — caught on camera, from his teammates after he rounded the bases and entered the dugout during the Rays’ 11-3 win.
