In past years it feels like you can point to a half-dozen or so games every season in which the Rays lost a game they absolutely had no reason losing. While the Rays have had a number of heartbreaking losses this year, including a club-record 11 walk-off losses, there haven’t been many games that they lost that you really looked at as one that should have absolutely been a win.
Sunday was one of those and it came at maybe the worst point it could have possibly happened.
With the Rays really needing a win to stay within shouting distance in the Wild Card race, the Rays and Chris Archer were cruising to what looked like another dominant performance by Big Tree.
