The Tampa Bay Rays have traded utilityman Steve Pearce back to the Orioles.
In exchange, the Orioles are sending catcher Jonah Heim to Tampa Bay. Heim, 21, is hitting .216 with seven home runs and 30 RBIs for Class-A club Fredrick of the Carolina League. The Orioles drafted him in the fourth round of the 2013 draft.
Buck Showalter loved Pearce who has previously spent parts of four seasons with the Orioles. Pearce is a versatile player, who can fill in at first, second, third, left and right and a veteran bat for stretch run.
