As a potential rebuild looms, early reports are coming in with Jake Odorizzi as a major trade chip in the 2017 off-season for the Tampa Bay Rays. Mike Berardino reported that the Minnesota Twins are interested in both Odorizzi and Pirates’ Gerrit Cole.
The Rays can expect a decent return for the controllable 27-year old if they decide to move him this off-season. Odorizzi will be a free agent in 2020 and is a fairly cheap option that could fill a lot of holes in rotations across the league.
Interest in Odorizzi from the Twins could stem from the starter’s lifetime 8.
