Despite all of the injuries, the Tampa Bay Rays’ starting rotation is currently fourth in baseball with a 3.53 ERA. More advanced measures believe in the group as well, with the Rays ranking in the top eight in baseball in FIP, xFIP, SIERA, ERA-, FIP-, and xFIP- as well. No matter how you slice it, the Rays’ rotation has been great so far. At the end of the day, though, what matters much more than how than where their numbers are right now is whether they can continue to succeed for the remainder of this season and beyond.
The Rays’ rotation began the year shorthanded, with Alex Cobb, Drew Smyly, Matt Moore, and Alex Colome starting the year on the disabled list.
