The Tampa Bay Rays have recalled left-handed pitcher, Adam Kolarek, from Triple-A Durham, and have optioned right-handed pitcher, Ryan Weber, to the minor leagues. To clear a spot on the 40-man roster, the Rays have also designated outfielder, Jeremy Hazelbaker, for assignment.
Kolarek made his major league debut during the 2017 with the Rays, after having spending 7 years in the minor league, most of which were spent within the New York Mets organization. The Rays picked him up in 2016 and Kolarek discovered a knack for getting groundballs and became a specialist against left-handed batters. While with the Rays in the majors last year, Kolarek pitched in 12 games and surrendered six runs on nine hits over 8 1⁄3 innings pitched.
