The Tampa Bay Rays are promoting two-way player Brendan McKay to start tonight’s series opener against the Chicago White Sox at Tropicana Field.
McKay, who Baseball America ranked as the 12th best prospect in baseball in their latest update, will be making his fourth Major League start. Thus far, he has dominated opposing lineups, allowing just three runs on 10 hits over 16 innings pitched. He has only walked one batter over that time, and racked up 13 strikeouts.
His last outing came on the 13th in Baltimore where he shutdown the Orioles for five innings, yielding just three hits while he walked none and struck out seven.
