Prior to tonight’s game against the Detroit Tigers, the Tampa Bay Rays announced that they have optioned outfielder, Johhny Field, to Triple-A Durham. In his place, they have recall first baseman, Ji-Man Choi, whom they acquired from the Milwaukee Brewers for Brad Miller back on June 10th.
Choi was once a top 30 prospect in the Seattle Mariners system and has spent some time in the majors with three different organizations. Most of his time was with the Los Angeles Angels during the 2016 campaign when he played in 54 games for the Halo’s. He spent six games with the Yankees in 2017 and 12 games this season with the Brewers, before being dealt to Tampa Bay.
